Q. Where is Torus located?
A. Torus is located in Portland, Oregon. All of our volunteer opportunities operate in the Pacific Standard Time Zone.
Q. Can I volunteer if I am under the age of 18?
A. No, volunteers have to be 18 years of age or older to participate in our volunteer programs.
Q. Do I need experience in teaching to volunteer in the English language program?
A. No, applicants residing in the U.S. do not need any formal experience in teaching English.
Q. I want to volunteer but I don’t live in the U.S. Can I still volunteer as an English teacher?
A. Torus allows volunteers who reside outside of the U.S. to volunteer with our English learners but applicants are required to submit a certificate of teaching experience or degree in English and a reference.
Q. are there any paid opportunities at torus?
A. Currently, Torus accepts unpaid volunteer and internship positions.
Q. I need to complete a virtual practicum for my English teaching certificate. can torus help me fulfill this requirement?

Q. I need to complete in-person practicum for my English teaching certificate. can torus help me fulfill this requirement?
A. Yes, however, this is only offered in Portland, OR. For more information click here: Torus Transformative Training
Q. Is Torus a nonprofit organization?
A. Yes, Torus is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible!
Q. Does Torus have a specific curriculum that we need to follow for the English classes?
A. Yes, Torus has required virtual curriculum to follow for at least 15 minutes of the class. We also provide curriculum for in-person classes.
