“Hello everyone, my name is Angel Mae, I am a junior at Western Oregon University and I'm planning on majoring in Pre-Education with a concentration in Middle/High School Language Arts. I'm also studying to get my TEFL Certificate and I'm super excited to partake in this opportunity so that I can get hands-on experience to work with English language learners! I was born in the Philippines and moved to the US when I was young. Having my own experience as well as watching my parents try to adapt to the English language was hard as there was minimal helpful resources, and this prompt me to want to become a resource to others. I believe that I will be able to look back on this experience and utilize many of the things I've learned in my future career.”

Besides, through having many supportive teachers and peers on my English learning journey, I am motivated to assist the non-English speakers on their journey, for I am grateful for the opportunities that I have gotten. And with the help of Torus, I believe this goal of mine will be achieved!
